What may and may not be sold on Cartinary

This policy lists the goods and activities we do not allow, and what happens when a listing breaks the rules. It applies to every merchant, every storefront and every listing.

1. Who this applies to

This policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions. It applies to anyone who lists goods, operates a storefront or holds an account on Cartinary, and to the content of listings, storefront pages, product images and messages sent through the platform.

Our payment processors and banking partners impose their own restrictions on the businesses they will serve. Where their rules are stricter than ours, theirs apply, and we will enforce them.

2. Goods that may not be sold

You may not list, sell or facilitate the sale of any of the following.

Category	What this covers
Illegal goods	Anything whose sale or possession is unlawful in Nigeria, and anything stolen, smuggled or obtained by fraud.
Drugs and related items	Controlled substances, narcotics, precursor chemicals, drug paraphernalia, and unregistered or counterfeit medicines.
Prescription and regulated medicine	Prescription-only medication, and medical devices requiring a licence you do not hold.
Weapons	Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, and knives or other implements sold as weapons.
Counterfeits	Replica or fake branded goods, and anything infringing another party’s trademark, copyright or design right.
Adult material	Pornography, sexual services, and sexually explicit imagery. Any content involving a minor will be reported to the authorities.
Gambling and speculation	Betting, lotteries, raffles, casino products, and anything offering a financial return based on chance.
Financial products	Currency exchange, cryptocurrency, gift-card resale, loans, insurance, investment products and money transmission, unless you hold the licence Nigerian law requires and have told us.
Pyramid and matrix schemes	Multi-level marketing, chain referral offers, get-rich-quick schemes and anything paying returns from recruitment.
Live animals and wildlife	Live animals, endangered species, ivory and other protected wildlife products.
Human material	Human organs, tissue, blood or bodily fluids.
Tobacco and nicotine	Cigarettes, vaping products and nicotine liquids.
Hazardous materials	Toxic, radioactive or otherwise dangerous substances requiring controlled handling.
Surveillance and intrusion tools	Hidden cameras and tracking devices marketed for covert use, malware, credential dumps, hacking services and stolen data.
Government and identity documents	Passports, national identity cards, certificates, licences, uniforms and academic qualifications.
False cures	Products claiming to cure, treat or prevent disease without approval from the relevant Nigerian authority.

3. Conduct that is not allowed

Regardless of what you sell, you may not use Cartinary to:

Take payment for goods you do not intend to supply, or list stock you do not have.
Process payments that are not for a genuine sale of your own goods — including moving money for a third party, testing cards, or using the platform to cash out funds.
Launder money, evade sanctions, or finance terrorism.
Misrepresent who you are, who owns the business, or where it operates from.
Sell goods belonging to another business as though they were your own without permission.
Publish another person’s private information, or content that is hateful, harassing, defamatory, or incites violence.
Use a Shopper’s personal data for anything other than fulfilling their order, or market to them without their agreement.
Scrape, probe, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform, or use automated tools against it without our written consent.
Circumvent a suspension, or open a new account after we have closed one.

4. Categories that need our agreement first

Some categories are allowed but carry legal obligations we need to know you are meeting. Tell us before you list in these, and we may ask for a licence or permit:

Alcohol.
Food prepared for immediate consumption, and anything requiring refrigerated handling.
Supplements, cosmetics and skincare making a health or efficacy claim.
Baby formula, car seats and other regulated child-safety products.
Chemicals, agricultural inputs and veterinary products.
Second-hand electronics sold with a warranty.
Ticketing and events.

5. How we enforce this

Listings are published by merchants and go live without prior review. We rely on reports, our own monitoring, and reviews prompted by payment activity or a partner’s request.

Where we find a breach, our response is proportionate to it, and may include any of:

Removing the listing and asking you to correct it.
Requiring documentation before you may list again.
Suspending the storefront.
Holding funds relating to affected orders, and declining withdrawals up to that amount.
Closing the account.
Reporting the matter to the police, a regulator, or our payment processor.

For a first, minor and evidently unintentional breach we will normally ask you to fix it. For prohibited goods, fraud, or anything involving a minor, we act immediately and without notice.

If you believe we have acted wrongly, reply to the notice we sent and we will look again.

6. Reporting something

If you have found a listing that breaks this policy, or a storefront using your brand or images without permission, write to connect@cartinary.com with the storefront address, a link to the listing and what is wrong with it. Include evidence of ownership for an intellectual property claim so we can act on it.

We aim to acknowledge a report within 2 business days and to reach a decision within 10.
